Xolo launches 8X-1000 with Custom Hive UI in India for Rs 13,999

Xolo has unveiled its new Hive UI and a smartphone named 8X-1000 based on it. The company calls the new Hive UI as “Made in India, Made for India.” It is designed at the company’s software design centre at Bangalore. The Hive UI is based on Android 4.4 KitKat and includes a number of features like launcher and a special store for themes, ringtones and wallpapers created by the community and Indian artists. It also includes a feature named Connect that will allow users to connect with the software development team. The new UI also comes with contacts app with Facebook integration; Chameleon widget for notifications on weather, calendar, missed calls, SMS and email; and an overhauled gallery app.

Xolo 8X-1000 features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display with ASAHI Dragontrail glass, a 1.4 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor with Mali 450 GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Other features include a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, EXMOR R sensor, 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The glass back is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage with expansion slot. On the connectivity front, the 8X-1000 includes dual SIM (GSM + GSM), 3G, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, A-GPS, GPRS/EDGE, and Bluetooth. The juice comes from 1920mAh battery, which the company claims to deliver up to 11 hours of talk time and up to 352 hours of standby time on 2G networks. The Xolo 8X-1000 smartphone will be available in black color starting next week at Rs. 13,999.
