This is how the virtual reality headset from Samsung, Gear VR will look like, when it will be announced later this year. The image has been published by SamMobile. Samsung is reportedly building this hardware in collaboration with Oculus VR. This is the render of the device, but we are expecting it to be closer to the final product.
Samsung Gear VR will work in conjunction with your phone that will be plugged in via USB and will act as your screen. The images also shows off a built-in touchpad which will allow wearers to control the Gear VR’s software, like Google Glass. Users can also view the outside world when they need it by tapping into the rear camera on Galaxy smartphones.
SamMobile claims that the headset will be showcased at IFA 2014 in early September. Samsung will reportedly make the headset’s software development kit available shortly after it’s announced. Even after so many leaks and reports, Samsung is yet to officially confirm the existence of the headset.
