Motorola has announced a new budget Android smartphone named Moto E, that is targeted at a broader audience in the emerging markets. The features of the device include a 4.3-inch display, a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1980mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.To reach at a lower price tag, Motorola has trimmed the front-facing camera, although there is a large speaker below the display. The software under the hood is Android 4.4 (Jelly Bean) and should receive firmware updates in a timely manner.
If you want to customize the looks of the device, Motorola is offering nine colored back panels including lemon, turquoise, red and pink along with the usual black and white. These are described as ‘shells’ and will be supplemented with five additional ‘grip shells’ for customers who need a ruggedized feel.
Moto E is available exclusively on Flipkart in India at a price of Rs.6,999. The e-commerce site is also offering some launch day offers, which include discounts on covers, memory cards and free eBooks. Flipkart has also been Motorola’s exclusive retail partner for Moto G and Moto X smartphones.
