Microsoft is rumored to be working on its, Apple Siri and Google Now competitor, Cortana. This is said to be part of the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 update. The Verge has posted leaked screenshots of the company’s Siri rival that gives its first look. Cortana, which is named after Halo game series, will replace the built-in Bing search functionality on Windows Phone 8.1. It will appear in the form of a circular animated icon that will reportedly jump about the screen as it asks you questions and responds to your questions.

If you check the above screenshot, you can see the ‘change my name’ option. This option will allow users to change their name and how they want to be addressed by the voice-activated assistant, similar to Siri. Cortana can save information and data such as behaviors, personal information, reminders, and contact information, in a Notebook system. It will also index your emails in order to track flights and other services, just like Google Now. We might see more of such functionalities in Cortana, before Windows Phone 8.1 makes its way to devices.
