Microsoft had launched its first Surface Book device in October last year. Speculations suggest that the company will be unleashing its successor model as early as next month. The rumour claims that the upgraded edition of first generation Surface Book will be launched to rival the Apple MacBook Pro 2016 that is also rumored to be announced in June.

Microsoft is expected to power the Surface Book 2 with seventh generation Intel Kaby Lake i5 and i7 chipsets. These chips will be built with 14 nm FinFet manufacturing process. However, other rumors indicate that the new chipsets will be hitting the market at the end of 2016.

Like the last year’s model, the Surface Book 2 is expected to sport a 13.5-inch screen. The first generation Surface Book offers a display resolution of 2000 x 3000 pixels. However, its successor is rumoured to deliver 4K resolution support.

Also, speculations indicate that the Surface Book 2 will be equipped with USB Type-C. It will not only allow users to enjoy high speed data transfer speeds but will also let them connect the tablet to a secondary display.

The Surface Book 2 is likely to arrive in different configurations along with varied price tags. The base model is rumoured to cost lower than $1,499. Even though the publication has speculated about Surface Book 2’s June release, there are no such reports from other sources.

The upcoming 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016 will be powered by sixth generation Intel Skylake chipsets. These notebooks are also expected to house GPU products from AMD and Nvidia. The Apple MacBook Pro 2016 variants are also rumoured to come with an innovative touch sensitive keyboard, a Thunderbolt 3 port and multiple USB Type-C ports.
