In time for the annual Game Developers Conference on San Francisco this week, Google has made an announcement that it is adding more features to its Play Games services. These features will enable gamers with Android and iOS devices to play against each other cross-platform. The Play Games service is a back-end tool that manages leaderboards, achievements and more in Android, iOS or web games. The service already supports iOS through a Unity plug-in, which will be updated with the multiplayer feature.

The developers can integrate the new features with their games to have cross-platform multiplayer support. So next time you find your friend boasting himself for the scores he earned, just challenge him for a game even if you own a phone in different platform. Google has said that most of the features of the service will become available on Tuesday March 18th.
