Google has released its Camera app for devices running Android 4.4 KitKat or later. The app includes a new mode – Lens Blur – that is helpful to achieve “SLR-like photos” offering a shallow depth of field effects.

Google says that, “Lens Blur replaces the need for a large optical system with computer vision algorithms and optimization techniques that are run entirely on the mobile device, simulating a larger lens and aperture in order to creating a 3D model of the world.”

Along with Lens Blur mode, the Google Camera app also brings in features like Photo Sphere, Panorama and 100% viewfinder for getting the maximum resolution from the sensor (no dropped pixels). Other changes include UI improvements that is centered on an extra large capture button. The Camera app is now available for download directly from Google Play.
