Flipkart to launch tablets in India this week

Flipkart will reportedly launch a range of tablets on June 26, under its DigiFlip brand name. The online retailer is sending out invite to the media in the form of a phial filled with pills, in other words tablets. The details about the upcoming tablets are scarce, but there are reports that they will run on MediaTek’s chipsets.

India is not a very good market, when tablets are concerned. According to IDC, the tablet shipment has declined in the second half of 2013. Indian consumers are price conscious, so instead of owning a tablet and a phone they prefer phablets that can serve both the purposes. Another challenge for Flipkart would be to find a place in the market, when already the competition is tough.
