Archos unveils 50 Diamond smartphone & 80b Helium tablet

French mobile manufacturer Archos has announced that it is going to the CES 2015 with two new Android devices – 50 Diamond smartphone and 80b Helium tablet. Both of the devices are mid-range and look quite impressive on paper for their expected price-tags.

Archos 50 Diamond phone features a 5-inch full HD IPS display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor. The phone also packs 16MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, 4G LTE support, dual-SIM connectivity and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. In addition, Archos has included 8MP front shooter, 2700 mAh battery, microSD card slot, and the usual set of connectivity options.

According to Archos, 50 Diamond will be released with a price-tag below GBP 200, but did not state anything about the availability details.

“In 2014, consumers don’t have access to high performance handsets from traditional smartphone vendors below £500. With the ARCHOS 50 Diamond, we are pushing forward the same advanced technology but we make it accessible to all consumers,” said Loïc Poirier, General Director of Archos.Archos 80b Helium 4G

Coming to 80b Helium tablet, the device packs 1.5GHz MediaTek MT8732 quad-core processor, 4G LTE support, 1GB of RAM and 8-inch 1280x800p HD IPS display. The tablet also features 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 2MP rear camera with LED flash, 0.3MP front shooter and 3600 mAh battery. The Archos 80b Helium tablet will price under GBP 150, but there is no word on the availability.
