Apple testing related search suggestion on App Store

Finding an app from millions of apps in the App Store is a cumbersome process. To ease that process, Apple is testing a related search suggestion feature on the App Store. This new feature will allow discovery of new apps by displaying suggestions similar to your current search term. For example, when you perform a search for “indie games”, the App Store will display suggestions for “action games”, which include “action RPG” into their own suggestions.

It is not known whether the new search suggestions are based on keywords chosen by developers, purchase history or any other algorithm. Well, it’s now that Apple is showing the fruits of acquiring San Francisco-based App Store search engine Chomp back in 2012, which we expected to happen with iOS 6 and iOS 7, but for some reason didn’t materialize.
